Aegis Industries Endorses Braidwood Commission Report

Rockville, MD, August 5, 2009 – Aegis Industries, LLC, the emerging leader of professional security solutions,
today announced its strong endorsement for the Braidwood Commission Report, a series of 19 recommendations
issued last week by Retired British Columbia Appeal Court Justice Thomas R. Braidwood, QC, to the provincial
government pertaining to the appropriate use of Conducted Energy Weapons (CEW) in British Columbia.
“Justice Braidwood has delivered the most thorough review and report on the appropriate use of CEWs to date. We
applaud and fully support the Commission’s efforts to define thresholds for deployment, use of force escalation and
independent testing and research, among other important findings,” said Kenneth J. Stethem, founder and CEO of
Aegis Industries. “We have been a steadfast advocate for defining common sense safety policies and enforcing
reliable device testing. The Commission’s report and immediate directive issued by the province’s Ministry of Public
Safety underscore the groundswell of support for actionable recommendations, responsible policies and objective
oversight.”

During Phase 1 of the Braidwood Inquiry in December 2008, Aegis presented to the Commission on the growing
importance for clearer definition of appropriate use, better oversight of technology deployment and uniform policies
for device testing and measurement. While the Braidwood Commission only pertains to British Columbia, similar
recommendations have recently been adopted in Alberta as well.
The Braidwood Commission Report includes a series of specific guidelines to improve the safety of CEW usage
including: increased thresholds for use, new deployment criteria, incident reporting, independent research and
testing, additional training requirements, weapon certification, and compliance requirements. The full Braidwood
report can be accessed at www.braidwoodinquiry.ca.
